Jme

Jme is the co-founder of Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, along with her husband, Bryan who is also on the Board and deeply involved.

In 2009, after fostering for other rescues, jme felt there was something lacking, things could be changed to better support pets and people but routinely heard "This is just how it is".

Now more than 14 years later, Motley Zoo is a thriving organization that has been a pioneer in the animal welfare world and has changed the perspective of what is possible for a little ol' grassroots organization.

Jme acts as Executive Director and also writes the MZ blog and other articles and contributions regarding animal welfare, health, and behavior which have been published worldwide.

Jme and Bryan have two little dogs (Meatball, Satori), two cats (Tut, Refugee), and a handful of foster animals at any point in time, specializing in little old dogs and small dog behavior cases.

Pate

Pate has been rescuing animals for more than 15 years. When she moved to Washington she discovered Motley Zoo and began getting involved. Since 2010 she's been a powerhouse behind MZ's life-saving momentum.

Besides a handful of her own pets, 2 kids, and a husband, Pate is up for anything- the more needy the animal the more she wants to help. She is up most nights bottle-feeding puppies, nursing animals having seizures, and more.

Even when she battled cancer in 2019, this barely slowed her down. Thanks to her perseverance and unwillingness to let cancer stand in her way, MZ rescued 85% of the animals that we would have in a normal year!

Pate is the master of puppies and friend to feisty felines- and MZ wouldn't be where it is today without her.
